| WHAT: THE ANNUAL WESTERN RESERVE ACADEMY ANTIQUES FESTIVAL Western Reserve Academy, the nation's ninth oldest boarding school, will host over 100 outstanding antique dealers for this widely acclaimed, one-day only, exhibit and sale. WHEN: Labor Day Monday, September 7, 2009 10:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. Outdoors - rain or shine!! WHERE: The campus of historic Western Reserve Academy, Hudson, Ohio. The school is located just north of the town on Route 91 (N. Main Street), Ohio Turnpike exit #180 (formerly exit #12) (Further Directions) Ample free parking will be available. Exhibitors will line both sides of College and Chapel Streets, where no cars will be permitted to park. TICKETS: GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS: $8.00. No pre-sold tickets. Children 18 years of age and under will be admitted free. PREVIEW: ANTIQUE LOVERS' PREVIEW!! An elegant breakfast and early shopping from 8:30 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. Breakfast will be served on the Ellsworth Hall patio. Tickets (good for all day) are $28.00 and will be for sale at two locations: Chapel Street and Route 91 and College and Prospect Streets. No presale tickets available for the Preview. RAFFLE: Tickets for Pioneer Women's Raffle are $5.00 each or 5 tickets for $20.00. Tickets will be available to purchase throughout the festival. The drawing will be held at 4:00 P.M. and the winner need not be present.
The raffle item for 2009 is an Ohio Walnut Pie Cupboard, circa 1860. It has two doors, each with three panels of pierced tin in a star design, and two interior shelves. A dovetail
shaped gallery top and plank sides with shaped cut out feet complete this piece. The cupboard measures 50" tall x 40 " wide x 17" deep. The pie cupboard will be on display at the Grey Colt, 150 N. Main St., Hudson, OH, two weeks prior to the Festival and also at the Festival on Labor Day, Monday, September 7th. REFRESHMENTS: Refreshments, at reasonable prices, will include gourmet sandwiches and salads, ice-cold beverages, delectable desserts and other treats. WHO/WHY: The Western Reserve Antiques Festival is sponsored by the Pioneer Women, a non-profit organization comprised of mothers of Academy students, past and present, alumnae and other friends of the school. The festival provides funding for special projects and activities for Academy students as well as funding for the ongoing restoration of the campus, which is on the National Historic Register. |
